Towards Net Zero Update

The JONZA program, delivered by the NSW Office of Energy and Climate Change, was established to help regional councils reduce their carbon emissions to achieve their part in the State’s Net Zero target of 50 per cent reduction by 2030 and net zero by 2050. Nine (9) Joint Organisations received funding which means sixty-five (65) regional councils are participating in the program.

The JO member councils are at different stages along the net zero path. This funding allows the project officer to assess individual member councils and provide a truly regional approach to emissions reduction.

It has been a busy period in the net zero space on the mid north coast. Noam Bardea, the MNCJO Net Zero Acceleration Officer is assisting councils to implement a number of exciting emissions reduction initiatives.
